# Understand and top up credits

<Lead>
Credits are the internal billing unit for AI-powered features: every AI action (for example a homestaging image or an assistant reply) consumes credits based on its actual usage. Business features without AI cost no credits.

## How credits are displayed

- **You do not see small amounts by default.** Actions below 10 credits are billed silently, without a price on the button. If you want to see the amounts, enable the small-credit-amounts switch under **Account > Appearance**.
- **Equivalent value as orientation:** the interface shows a euro equivalent next to your balance (4 cents per credit). This is a display aid, not a billing rate; what is billed is the actual usage of each AI action.
- Billing always runs through the reserve-and-settle principle: on any technical error, reserved credits are refunded automatically.

## Plan balance per billing period

Every plan includes a credit balance that renews with each billing period. Unused plan credits do not carry over into the next period.

| Plan | Credits per period |
|---|---:|
| Compact | 500 |
| Standard | 2,000 |
| Max | 5,000 |
| Max+ | 8,000 |

Paid additional seats bring their own 250 credits per month, fixed to the person on the seat. Details: [Staff accounts](/help/howto/invite-members).

## Buying more: packs and credit subscriptions

Under **Settings > Credits** you can extend your balance:

<DefinitionList>
  <DefItem term="One-time packs">
    250 credits for 11 euros, 500 for 21 euros, 1,000 for 40 euros or 2,500 for 95 euros. One-time packs apply to the current billing period and expire at its end.
  </DefItem>
  <DefItem term="Credit subscriptions">
    Recurring packs that renew with every period: 500 credits for 19 euros, 1,500 for 55 euros or 3,000 for 105 euros per month (annual payment: ten monthly prices). Cancel any time.
  </DefItem>
  <DefItem term="Extended usage (optional)">
    Instead of stopping at an empty balance, you can enable a budget for extended usage: additional credits then cost 4.5 cents each, up to a limit you set yourself. Without this opt-in, unplanned costs never occur.
  </DefItem>
</DefinitionList>

<Tip title="Booking ahead pays off">
Packs and subscriptions are cheaper per credit than extended usage. If your office regularly needs more than the plan balance, a credit subscription is the cheapest option.
</Tip>

## What happens when the balance is empty?

- AI actions pause with a clear message; your data and all non-AI features remain fully usable.
- Without extended usage enabled, nothing is ever charged automatically.
- After topping up, all AI features are available again immediately.

## Refunds on errors

If an AI action fails for technical reasons or aborts before a result exists, the reserved credits are refunded automatically. Details and diagnosis: [Credits are not being deducted](/help/troubleshooting/credits-no-debit).

## Tracking consumption

Under **Settings > Credits** you see your current balance, when your period renews, and the history of all credits and debits with time and source. The assistant bundles many small per-message amounts into one summary entry to keep the history readable.
