This page explains what happens when a payment fails (nothing abrupt) and what happens to your content when you uninstall. The price and the included services are documented under [Cost and add-on](/tools/website/kosten).

## The add-on model in one sentence

A fixed monthly price from the Standard plan carries the complete operation of your website; the only action that costs credits is generating text in the editor. Price, setup fee, included services and the storage quota are documented under [Cost and add-on](/tools/website/kosten). This page describes what comes after that: outstanding payments, uninstalling and the deadlines.

## Payment issues: gentle stages instead of shutdown

If the add-on payment fails, your website is **never switched off immediately**. There are three stages, each clearly shown inside the tool:

<Timeline>
  <TimelineEvent title="Day 0 to 14: notice banner">
    Everything works normally. A banner informs you: "Zahlungsproblem beim Website-Add-on." (payment issue with the website add-on), explaining that the website stays online and you can keep working, including the exact dates of the next stages.
  </TimelineEvent>
  <TimelineEvent title="Day 14 to 28: editor read-only">
    The website stays fully online, but content can no longer be changed: "Editor schreibgeschützt." (editor read-only) with the explanation "Wegen der offenen Zahlung lassen sich Inhalte gerade nicht ändern. Deine Website bleibt online." (due to the open payment, content cannot be changed right now; your website stays online).
  </TimelineEvent>
  <TimelineEvent title="From day 28: website temporarily offline">
    "Website vorübergehend offline. Besucher sehen eine neutrale Hinweisseite. Alle Inhalte und Domains bleiben 90 Tage erhalten. Sobald die Zahlung geklärt ist, geht die Website automatisch wieder online." (website temporarily offline; visitors see a neutral notice page; all content and domains are kept for 90 days; once the payment is settled, the website automatically goes back online).
  </TimelineEvent>
</Timeline>

<Success title="Everything reverses automatically">
As soon as the payment is settled, everything returns without any action on your part: the write protection lifts, the website goes back online, nothing needs to be set up or republished.
</Success>

## Uninstalling and cancelling

If you uninstall the Website tool (or the add-on ends):

- The website goes **offline**; visitors can no longer reach it.
- **All content is retained for 90 days**: pages, versions, team profiles, legal texts, enquiries and settings. Reinstall the tool within that window and everything is restored as if nothing happened.
- After 90 days the content is permanently deleted.
- **Your domain stays with the workspace.** It is managed centrally under **Settings > Domain** and is not tied to the tool.
